7/9/25 UPDATE: PLASTIC FILM / WRAP NEEDED!!
Madison Borough council would like to add new park benches in Madison Park as part of our park improvement efforts. As a way to save the borough the cost associated with the purchase of park benches, Madison Borough has joined the NexTrex Recycling Challenge, This challenge awards composite park benches to organizations that collect at least 1,000 pounds of recycled plastic file during a 12 month period. This is where the borough needs YOUR help!
Starting immediately, we are asking residents to save the plastic items listed below and drop them off at collection boxes that have been placed at the Post Office, the Firehall and the side entrance of the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home.
The more plastic we collect and turn in, the more benches we can get for our park. Thank you so much for your help!!
Plastic Items to Save: Grocery bags, Bread bags, Bubble wrap, Dry Cleaning bags, Newspaper
sleeves, Ice bags, Plastic shipping envelopes, Ziploc and other recloseable food storage bags, cereal
bags, Case overwrap, Salt bags, Pallet wrap and stretch film, Wood pellet bags, Produce bags.
*** All plastic must be clean, dry and free of food residue
6/11/25 Update:
There was an incident at the Madison Borough Park on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025. A truck and trailer got stuck at the top of the park walking path, along with another truck who was trying to pull the truck and trailer out. The truck and trailer had to be towed to the bottom of the park. Please note, they were not there to do work on the park. The borough is taking the necessary measures to ensure there will be no tax dollars spent on the repairs.
